OUR STORYStoryStoryStory

The Don Bosco Kep Children Fund is integrated at the DON BOSCO CHILDREN FUND of Cambodia as a branch. It was created in at Kep Province on October 10, 2011 by Fr. Ly Samnang (known also as Fr. Albeiro Rodas, a Salesian of Don Bosco from Colombia, South America, who came as a missionary to Cambodia in 1999.)Fr. Ly Samnang is also the director of the Don Bosco Technical School and founder of Don Bosco in Kep Province. In 2014 he opened the Don Bosco Brother Sun Teenagers residence in Don Bosco Kep with the support of Kindermissionwerk of Achen, Germany. 40 children aged 10 to 17 years old join the teenagers residence to be able to study at the public schools of Kep Province. The Sun Kids (as they are known too), come from very vulnerable children at risk of child begging, child ilegal migration, child labour and any other form of exploitation. From the Sun Kids program, now 5 children are already successful young men studying technical school. Like Mr. Meng Samnang who is finishing his second year of an associate degree in Information Technology. He comes from a very poor family of the District of Kos Sla in Kampot Province. “If it is not because of this program of Sun Kids, by now I would be a street boy in Phnom Penh or working in construction sites without a future,” he says. The Don Bosco Kep Children Fund as a branch of DON BOSCO CHILDREN FUND of Cambodia, sponsors 200 children from the age of 4 years old to 18 to study kindergarten, primary, secondary and technical education. Most of the kids live in the provinces of Kep, Kampot and Takeo and some in Kompung Speu, Preah Sihanouk and others. The Don Bosco Kep Children Fund is also interested in supporting indigenous children and children who are physically challenged. In this regard, some children from Ratanakiri province and children from very poor Muslim communities, have gotten benefits from DBCF-Kep.

We are a local and international organization for no profit and no government organization known as Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia with headquarters in Phnom Penh. The program related with supporting children with scholarships and nutrition is called Don Bosco Children Fund with headquarters in Sihanoukville. Don Bosco Kep Children Fund is a branch of DON BOSCO CHILDREN FUND. It has headquarters in Don Bosco Kep Province since 2011, created by Fr. Ly Samnang (Fr. Albeiro Rodas) along with the technical school. It looks for sponsors of vulnerable children from Kindergarten to technical education (around 4 years old to 18.) The range of action goes from Kep Province to Kampot and Takeo, but it can include children out of that range if there is a difficult situation to attend. The profile of the children must be:1. Children who are in the age of studies.2. Very poor family situation.3. In danger of child begging, child labour, child illegal migration, child exploitation or abuse.4. Indigenous children.5. Children who are physically challenged. Benefactors can contribute with a scholarship for a child who is at risk with $25 USD per month scholarship that guarantees that the kid will remain at school and get the feeding program. Benefactors can opt to increase that feet to support the overall program. For any information on how to support a child, please get in contact.
